BIS CommitteePlease make a selection.
Represent SMC at the BIS (Building Industry Show) Committee and actively work to organize the Sales & Marketing program for the event. Report to the SMC Board. The Council gets a portion of the proceeds only if the Council is represented. Committee meetings typically start in January and show is set by May.
Board Retreat CommitteePlease make a selection.
Organize the annual Board Retreat for the next year’s Board of Directors. This is a weekend event, usually held the first or second weekend of November. Organization includes booking facility, food, and meeting arrangements. In addition, plan a Friday evening dinner and Saturday lunch. Coordinate with office to notify new Board of Directors.
Charity/Community CommitteePlease make a selection.
Determine charitable causes for the SMC Inland Empire and promote participation of the SMC members in all charitable causes. Plan donations to charities as part of dinner meetings or socials, including ordering a large check for presentation and photographs. Provide information to the Public Relations Committee on Charitable events and contributions.
Communications/Website/Reception CommitteePlease make a selection.
Coordinate, with the webmaster, all updates and/or changes to the SMC website. Communication with members, via calls, emails and faxes to remind them to reserve for upcoming meetings, special events, educational events and to encourage submission of applications for sales awards. Coordinate with the SMC office for monthly blast emails and blast faxes.
Corporate Sponsorship CommitteePlease make a selection.
Develop annually a list of Corporate Sponsor levels and benefits. Encourage and sign up companies to participate as a Corporate sponsors. Order posters or banners to highlight sponsors at each dinner meeting. Supply list of Corporate Sponsors for all publications. Coordinate an annual thank you luncheon.
Education CommitteePlease make a selection.
Organize a CSP Course, IRM Course and CSP Advanced Course each year. Organization includes booking facility, speakers, sponsors, food, educational material and any required permits. Prepare information for mailing for each Course to be submitted to the Public Relations Committee. Attend each Course to check-in registrants.
Fund Raising CommitteePlease make a selection.
Plan and organize two fundraising events each year. Ideas in addition to a Golf Tournament could be Casino Night, Talent Show, etc. Organization includes booking facility, speakers, sponsors, food and entertainment. Prepare information for mailing for each event to be submitted to the Public Relations Committee.
Historian CommitteePlease make a selection.
Organize scrapbook of all Council events, to submit on October 1st of each year for entry into The National Awards. Scrapbook will include pictures of events, press releases, news articles and event flyers and invitations. The SMC office will provide all event flyers and invitations to the Historian. The Public Relations committee will provide all press releases and news articles. Committee needs to hire a photographer and/or take pictures of every SMC event from October of previous year to September of current year. Complete paperwork to submit the Council’s entry.
Laurels CommitteePlease make a selection.
Organize the annual Laurel Awards, to include sponsorship, call for entries, judging, reservations and production of event.
Membership CommitteePlease make a selection.
Recruit new members to the SMC and retain current members. Plan one Membership drive per year. Report to the Board on a monthly basis the current membership counts.
Newsletter CommitteePlease make a selection.
Organize and produce four quarterly newsletters for the SMC. Request articles from Committees, a President’s Message and new member information from the SMC office. Solicit advertisers and process invoice requests with the SMC office.
Nominating CommitteePlease make a selection.
The committee is made up of the Immediate Past President, the Current President, and the First Vice President. Solicitation for new board members takes place late summer. Ballots are sent out and a meeting is coordinated to count ballots in September. New board members for the following year are contacted to ensure their commitment to the Board Retreat
in November.
Programs CommitteePlease make a selection.
Organize all scheduled dinner meetings each year. Organization includes booking facility, speakers, food, audio visual and any other special requirements. Board meetings are held prior to dinner meetings, so this Committee is also in charge of making arrangements for the Board of Directors meetings. Prepare information for mailing for each meeting to be submitted to the Public Relations Committee.
Public Relations CommitteePlease make a selection.
Prepare press releases on all events and projects for the SMC each year. Produce meeting notices for dinner meetings, education and special events. Distribute press releases and news clippings to the Historian Committee. Distribute press releases to the Newsletter Committee and the Communications/Website Committee.
Raffles CommitteePlease make a selection.
Organize donation of raffle prizes. Sell raffle tickets and conduct drawing for prizes at all dinner meetings and social events.
Sales Awards CommitteePlease make a selection.
Prepare Sales Award applications for each year, reviewing categories and application due dates. Organize distribution of quarter application flyers. Coodinate judging of applications, order trophies and conduct awards presentations at dinner meetings and sales seminars. Prepare list of winners and finalists for the SMC office and the Public Relations Committee. Annually in January or February of each year, organize mailing of application and presentation of the Million Dollar Sales Award certificates.

Organize two seminar events each year – one in the Spring as a joint seminar with the SMC Southern California and one in the Fall for the Council. Organization includes booking facility, speakers, food, audio visual and any other special requirements. Prepare information for mailing for each meeting to be submitted to the Public Relations Committee.
